Cabana Buta sits at 1,580 metres, in a clearing surrounded by fir trees, inside Retezat National Park. Far from the road and the bustle, close to the ridges and the glacial lakes.
Come for one night before a long hike, or for a few quiet days. You will find a warm bed, home-cooked food and people who know the mountain.
The hut has been run by Bela and Margareta since 1979. Almost fifty years in the same place, at 1,580 metres, with everything that comes with it: the winters, the road, the people who came back year after year.

The path starts at the door.
Marked paths lead from the hut to the ridges and glacial lakes. All the marked trails in the Retezat Mountains, with map, duration and conditions reported from the ground, are on Suzu. There you can also find hiking companions for the same route.

With a 4x4 vehicle you can drive up to the hut in about an hour, from the junction of the DN66A with Lazărul street.
